Skill Checks let you improve your score through short, focused checks. Each Skill Check targets a single Skill where you have an opportunity to improve your skills profile and your score.
Instead of retaking a full assessment, Skill Checks help you make progress by verifying additional skills one step at a time.

What Happens During a Skill Check
When you start a Skill Check:
Elo reviews your Skill scores to identify where additional evidence could improve your result.
Two personalized questions are generated for the targeted Skill. This usually takes 15–60 seconds, depending on the number of skills you need to improve.
3. You answer both questions. Each response receives an item-level rating: Nice Work, Nearly There, Getting There, or Not Quite. Partial credit counts! You don't need a perfect result for your Skill score to improve, as long as the new evidence supports a higher score.
4. After submitting, feedback is provided immediately. Your Skill score updates if the new evidence, including any partially correct responses, supports a higher result.
How Skill Checks Are Different from a Full Assessment
A full assessment evaluates your knowledge across an entire capability.
Skill Checks work differently. They:
Target specific skills that need improvement
Use shorter, focused questions
Help you improve your score incrementally
This approach allows you to make progress without repeating the full assessment experience.
How Skill Check Scoring Works
Skill Checks use a simple progression model:
Scores can only increase.
You can take unlimited attempts.
Each attempt must be completed within 72 hours to receive feedback.
Each attempt gives you another opportunity to verify skills and improve your score. This design encourages continuous learning and experimentation.
