This guide walks company administrators through connecting Workera to Credly, mapping programs to badges, testing the integration, and managing it day to day. Once set up, participants automatically earn shareable digital credentials (badges) in Credly as they complete programs in Workera.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
- A Credly organization with at least one badge template created and active.
- Your Credly API credentials: your Organization ID (a UUID) and an API token.
💡 Finding your API Credentials: to find these, log in to your Credly issuer account and go to Organization Settings > Developers > Authorization Tokens.
- Administrator access in Workera for the company you're setting up.
Step 1: Connect Workera to your Credly organization
- In Workera, navigate to Admin > Integrations > Credly Settings.
- Enter your Credly Organization ID.
- Enter your Credly API Token. The token is masked once saved.
- Select Enable Credly integration.
- Select Test Connection. Workera verifies the credentials, confirms the Credly organization name, and returns the token expiration date.
- Select Save.
If the connection test fails, confirm that the Organization ID is the UUID from Credly (not the organization slug or display name), and that the API token is active and has issuer permissions.
💡 Disconnecting: To disconnect, select Disconnect Credly on the same page. This clears the stored token and stops new badges from being issued. Badges already issued to participants remain in Credly.
Step 2: Configure the webhook in Credly
The webhook lets Credly notify Workera when a badge is accepted, rejected, revoked, or deleted, so badge status stays in sync.
- In Credly, open Developers from the left navigation.
- Open the Webhooks tab.
- In Callback URL, enter the address for your Workera region:
- US data center hosting:
https://skills.workera.ai/webhooks/credly - EU data center hosting:
https://skills.eu.workera.ai/webhooks/credly
- US data center hosting:
- Under Event Types, select badge.state.changed and badge.deleted.
- Save the webhook. Credly will start delivering events to the callback URL; any other event types are
- safely ignored by Workera.
Step 3: Map a Workera program to a badge
Badge mappings are configured separately for each program. A program can have one active Credly badge mapping at a time.
- In Workera, go to Admin > Programs.
- Open the program that should award a badge.
- Open the Credly Badge section.
- Paste the Credly Badge Template ID (a UUID).
- Select Load badge. Workera displays the badge name, image, and active or inactive status from Credly.
- Review the badge details and select Save.
Important: The badge template must belong to the Credly organization connected to Workera. An inactive template can be mapped, but Credly may decline to issue badges until the template is active.
Step 4: Validate the integration
Before announcing the integration, complete an end-to-end test with a test account.
- Complete the mapped Workera program with the test account.
- Open the Badges page in Workera, Claim your badge
- Accept the badge in Credly.
- Confirm that the badge status changes in Workera from Pending to Earned.
- Confirm that View on Credly opens the correct public badge page.
Step 5: Roll out to participants
Once testing is complete, let participants know what to expect. Suggested message:
You can now earn shareable digital credentials when you complete eligible Workera programs. Credly will email you when a badge is issued. Accept the badge in Credly to add it to your LinkedIn or Credly profile.
Point participants to the Badges tab in their Workera account.
Managing the integration
Retroactive badge issuance
When you create a new badge mapping, Workera automatically issues the badge to participants who already completed the program. Processing runs in the background. Small programs usually complete within seconds or minutes; very large programs may take a few hours.
Change or remove a program mapping
- To change the badge template, enter the new template ID, load the badge, and save. The previous mapping is deactivated.
- To remove the mapping, use the disconnect action in the program's Credly Badge section. Badges already issued remain in Credly.
Data shared with Credly
For each badge issuance, Workera sends: recipient email (identifies the participant), first and last name (when available), an optional Workera employee ID, the badge template ID mapped to the program, and the program completion timestamp. Before enabling the integration, confirm this data flow is permitted under your organization's data processing agreement and privacy policies.
Current limitations
- Badges are triggered by eligible program completion. Individual skill assessments do not issue badges.
- Workera does not send badge expiration dates to Credly. Configure expiration rules in Credly.
- Badges cannot be revoked from Workera. Use the Credly admin console to revoke a badge.
- A badge template ID is validated only after you select Fetch badge.
